Umrah application process
1. Umrah travelers must collect their passport before registration.
2. After collecting passport, Umrah travelers must complete Biometric Enrollment for their Visa ( For this, they have to download the SAUDI VISA BIO app from the playstore/appstore)
3. Then, they must complete Visa and Ticket for the Umrah.
4. After completing Visa and Ticket process and collecting complete package fee, they will be given all documents ( Passport, Visa, Ticket, Health card, Agency ID card etc)
What is Umrah?
The literal meaning of Umrah is religious work, worship, pleasant, service, stable, life, ancient, architectural-establishment, receipt, reception, pilgrimage or journey and desire. The person who performs Umrah is called ‘Mu’tamir’. The specific activities of Umrah are Ihram, Tawaf and Sa’i, Halaq, Qasr etc. The designated places of Umrah are Kaaba Sharif, Safa-Marwa etc. For those who perform Umrah from afar, it is Sunnah to visit the Rawza Sharif of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in Madinah Munawara. There is no specific time for performing Umrah; however, it is not obligatory to perform Umrah during the designated time of Hajj (five days from 8th Zil-Hijjah to 12th Zil-Hijjah); Umrah can be performed on any day of the year except these five days. Umrah
can also be performed during the Hajj journey. There is no obstacle to performing more than one Umrah in the same journey. Just as Hajj is obligatory once in a lifetime; Similarly, Umrah is Sunnah at least once in a lifetime. Performing Umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to Hajj in reward; the month of Shawwal is also a good time to perform Umrah. However, it is unreasonable to perform Umrah repeatedly without completing Hajj even though Hajj is obligatory. Because, a hundred Umrahs will not be equivalent to one Hajj. Similarly, it is not correct to say that performing Umrah makes Hajj obligatory.
Rules for performing Umrah
For Umrah, just like for Hajj, one has to enter Ihram from the Miqat. Our Miqat from Bangladesh is Yalamlam Hill, which is located east of Jeddah. From Medina, the Miqat is a place called Dhul-Hulaifa. If one wants to perform Umrah from Mecca, the Miqat is Tanyim or Aisha Mosque or a place called Jirana. (The Miqat is not applicable for the Ihram of Hajj from Mecca). Umrah is also called ‘Umrah Hajj’ or small Hajj. Umrah can be performed for oneself as well as for others. Umrah can be performed for anyone, living or dead, young or old, relative or non-relative. Since Umrah is not obligatory or obligatory, it is not necessary to perform it on behalf of anyone. However, if a capable person makes a will, it will be obligatory to perform it. Apart from this, if someone performs Umrah for someone else, both will receive equal reward, and if someone performs Umrah for someone else, both will be entitled to full reward. Performing Umrah is an important Sunnah deed. This applies to both men and women. There is no provision that makes Hajj obligatory upon performing Umrah. Regarding Umrah, the Holy Quran states, ‘Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the signs of Allah; so whoever performs Hajj or Umrah, let him go around them (Sa’i)’ (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 158).
What to bring with you on Umrah
1. Saudi Riyals/US Dollars as per government guidelines for personal expenses.
2. 2 sets of Ihram clothes (2.5 hands long, 5/6 hands long, 4 pitch thick long cloths or white cloth of your choice).
3. 1 pair of two-strap sandals (for wearing in Ihram).
4. 1 pair of leather sandals/shoes and socks (for wearing in normal conditions).
5. Any type of sandals or shoes for women to wear in both Ihram and normal conditions.
6. At least 4 sets of normal clothes. Shirt-pants, pajamas-Punjabi, lungi, jenji, underwear, hat, for women, salwar kameez, three-piece, veil, maxi, sari, burqa, niqab, etc.
7. 1 set of warm clothes, shawl/sweater and muffler if required.
8. 2 gamchas/towels.
9. 1 bed sheet and 1 sheet.
10. Those who take regular medicine should bring a doctor’s prescription and a minimum of 45 days’ worth of medicine.
11. Mobile phone.
12. Those who use glasses, if necessary, can take 1 extra pair of glasses and 2 glasses straps.
13. Keep necessary Islamic books with you for reading during your free time. If necessary, you can take a small size Quran.
Special Information
1. The woman’s male companion must be a mahram according to Sharia law.
2. The applicant for Umrah must be physically capable of performing Umrah.
3. Applications from disabled and seriously ill persons will not be accepted.
